According to Safe Kids Worldwide, on average, twice as many child pedestrians are killed while walking on Halloween compared to any other day of the year, and more than 70 percent of accidents occur away from an intersection or crosswalk. Follow these tips and be safe this Halloween.

      Motor Vehicle Accident with Extrication

      The Westport Fire Department responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident requiring extrication today on Kings Hwy North. The incident occurred at about 6 PM in the early evening hours. Units arrived to find a vehicle on its side with the occupant trapped. Fire crews stabilized the car, gained entry and removed the driver who was the only occupant of the automobile.

      While operating at a stove fire at Summitwoods dr., Norwich dispatch reported to Battalion 1 that they had a fire alarm activation at 66 Franklin Street. Engine 2 and East Great Plains FD were assigned to the fire alarm while companies began to clear the stove fire.  While en route, dispatch advised Engine 2 that they were taking calls for smoke from the second floor.

      Livonia Fire Department battles suspicious fire

      The Livonia Fire Department says a fire at a home Sunday afternoon in the 8900 block of Farmington remains under investigation as suspicious in nature. Fire inspector Keith Bo said crews responded Sunday afternoon to the fire at the home near Farmington and Kentucky. He said no injuries were reported as the owner was not home at the time of the incident.
